located in Nelson, New Zealand

Originally from Southland, my craft journey started when I used to sit and watch my Mum knitting. 

I moved to Christchurch as a teenager where the artist in me was put to good use for many years as a Hairdresser. 

Sewing and Knitting became part of my life as well as a growing family.

I now live and work in sunny Nelson.

With the children grown up and living their own lives I started making mosaics and fell in love with them.

I suffered from illness for a number of years and lost a lot of confidence in myself. 

In 2015 finally got answers and my good health back and was looking around for something to do.

I found an add for The Nelson Fiber Group they were looking for people to make hats for chemo patients.

Let's just say I was hooked. It was this talented friendly group that gave me the confidence to get back into life and open my etsy shop.

I think a life time is not nearly long enough to create all the ideas in my head.

Fiber has so many possibilities and my journey is still evolving.

A Collaboration Between Knotty Crochet Team Members

First a little history around my Flower Wall Hangings. Our Nelson Creative Fiber Group made two Hangings of poppies
for Anzac Day ( Australia New Zealand Army Corps ) in 2015. I was involved in this project.
We made approximately 5000 poppies. These Hangings are in our beautiful Nelson Cathedral. And look stunning.

It was this that inspired me to make a much smaller version that touches my heart every time I look at them.

Now to National Crochet Month & Breast Cancer

I don't think anyone is not affected by this disease either personally, a close family member or a close friend.
The research that is done world wide goes a long way.  Personally my mum was involved in a pilot study in New Zealand that saved her life.
And I'm sure we all know of our own team captains personal battle.

So I thought of this crazy idea to make a Pink Flower Wall Hanging  as a collaboration of our Knotty Crochet Team Members.  It will be a Wall Hanging with a lot of love and a well traveled one by the time it is finished.
Our members are spread world wide so how cool will this be.
So excited about seeing all your beautiful flowers.
